about

Difficult 7th Album

I know how you feel. I can almost sense your quaking anticipation, fingers trembling in excitement as you pick up this album. For moments such as these, dear friends, are rare as pink diamonds.

That’s right, folks - Nathan’s released a new album!!! I know what you're thinking. “About time too!” Well, let me tell you, guys, it isn’t titled “Difficult 7th Album” for nothing. Do you know how much trouble Nathan had, trying to get a supergroup together consisting of Dennis Wilson from the Beach Boys on drums, Paul Atkinson from The Zombies on guitar, Tony Jackson from The Searchers on bass and Mike Smith from The Dave Clark Five on keys to be his backing band? Not one of them returned any of his calls or emails! In the end he had to record every painstaking note by himself, using both his beloved trademark Hayman drums and Traynor amps together for most of the tracks, a first for a Persad album.

So, after all this time, all this waiting and wondering and wishing, you must feel a little apprehensive. “Is this going to be worth the wait?” you may ask. Well. Let me tell you. YOU’RE DARN TOOTIN’ IT IS!! This album has everything you could want. A hark back to an old favourite with ‘You Really Do Me In’; a genuine return to Nathan’s roots with the nostalgic ‘Streatham’; a healthy sploosh of a Motown vibe with ‘Wow Saturday Night’, and an important spelling lesson with ‘P-E-R-S-A-D’. That’s to name just four of the eleven tracks of sheer heaven – and you will remember today, aka The Day You Bought This Album, as one of the wisest musical-related decisions since Ronald Wycherley changed his name to Billy Fury.

I really hope you enjoy the album. If you do, thank Nathan, because he worked so hard on it. If not, you’ve obviously not listened to it properly, go and listen again – and use your ears this time!
